Why “lukeprog”?
“lukeprog” is the username I’ve used on the web since about 2000. At the time, it was short for “Luke, programmer.” I was learning to program computers. I soon dropped that and developed an interest in avant-garde, or “progressive” music. So now, the nickname makes more sense as a shorthand for “Luke, progressive music fan.”
Though the first syllable of both “programmer” and “progressive” are pronounced “prohg,” I pronounce “lukeprog” as “lukeprawg.” Don’t ask me why.
